ALM102 Task 2

Task 2
For this task I decided to do a brief review of the disruptive technology Augmented reality and the way that its evolving so many services we have today. I explained that by using this technology we can advance our medical knowledge and practice surgery’s without operating on a patient. With schools however, Virtual reality can aid students who prefer to learn visually and add more interactive activities. Virtual reality is also emerging within major league sports to help train the best athletes in the world by using programs specifically created to enhance certain skills
I planned for this video to have 3 different parts. The first part included the front camera on a Samsung galaxy S9 with a video of myself with a pair of sunglasses on, claiming that they were googles newest augmented reality glasses. However, the video takes a turn when I reveal that they are not googles glasses and really are just a cheap pair of glasses. With this, comes the next part of the video, when I snap my fingers and turn into an animated version of myself which is purely copying facial expression and changes. I decided that the best way to give a presentation of augmented reality was to give the viewers a first-hand example of it and how it is already made available. While I am videoing myself as the cartoon, I give brief examples of how Virtual and Augmented reality are changing everything in the technological world and evolving our ways of doing things. The last part of this video involves a Augmented reality game for smartphones with a voice-over what is happening in the game, giving yet another example of how its changing our world. To end the video, I turn back to the front facing camera without the cartoon and say a quick ‘Thanks for watching’.
One of the major problems I came across while doing this assignment was finding a video editor for a start that was easy to use. I chose to use “Animotica – Video editor” which was a free to use beginner editing program from the windows store. Since I have not done much editing before I found this program easy to use and gave me a lot of confidence after I played around and made a couple of practice videos before trying the real thing.
Another problem that came up was that because I filmed it on my phone, the aspect ratio was 9:16 which was not ideal as a good one for YouTube is 16:9. The way that I resolved this issue was to change it to 16:9 and to change the background to a ‘Fit’ option which I actually preferred in the end after playing around with it a bit more. The transition between each small video was not as good as I planned it being as I noticed I cut some of the videos short by a second and you couldn’t quite grasp every word which proved to be a major problem and caused me to re-video a fair chunk of the outcome.
